Arizona Folklore Preserve
Events Update
March 10, 2006
This weekend, March 11 & 12, we
welcome Wyatt
& Terry Earp to the stage. They are a wonderful couple
from Phoenix and fascinating folks. Wyatt, who is the great-great
nephew of the historic Wyatt Earp, has worked for New York Life in Phoenix for 35 years. He founded a
famous charitable marathon there several years ago (please forgive me . . . I
cannot remember the name of this marathon, but it is successful and
recognizable) and runs in marathons himself. Wyatt sits on the board for
the YMCA and donates his time coaching the children's swim teams there.
Terry is an award-winning playwright and has written several plays . . . comedies
as well as the historic plays she writes about Wyatt's family and other
characters of that era.
On
Saturday. Wyatt
will perform a one-man play, "Wyatt Earp: A
Life on the Frontier", which is set in the 1920's a few
years before the historic Wyatt's death. In this play, the historic Wyatt
thinks through many of the major events of his life.
On
Sunday, Terry performs
her newest one-woman play, "Mrs. Wyatt
Earp", which is set in 1938, a few years after Wyatt's
death. Josie makes her final visit to their dream cottage in California and reminisces about the adventures
of their 40 years together.
The plays are full of true stories . . . lots of interesting history . . . well
performed and fun to watch.
