August 5, 2005

Hello to all of you wonderful Arizona Folklore Preserve supporters!  Here's an update on some of our coming events . . .

This weekend, on Saturday, August 6, we welcome cowboy poet, Steve Lindsey and singer/songwriter, Jon Messenger to the stage!  Steve is a long time Elgin, Arizona rancher who has performed cowboy poetry and storytelling all over the Southwest for years with a charm that will just hook you.  He has a most contagious smile and a jolly spirit . . . he's just a downright warm and funny guy . . . you'll find him absolutely endearing.  Jon Messenger has been singing and songwriting Western music celebrating the cowboy way and our great Western culture all his adult life.  He's been president of the board and an active member of the Western Music Association, a national organization which promotes western artists and keeps our Western Heritage alive and well.  Steve and Jon are a great pair of performers together . . . they'll make for a fun afternoon.

On Saturday and Sunday August 13 & 14, and on August 20 & 21, Arizona's Official State Balladeer, Dolan Ellis will be on stage performing his music.  We're already quite full on Saturday, August 20, so if you'd like to come hear Dolan on that weekend, you might want to aim for Sunday the 21st!

August 27 & 28 . . . to be announced.

Saturday, September 3 . . . Arizona's Official State Balladeer, Dolan Ellis will do a Labor Day weekend show on Saturday only . . . enjoy our last official summer holiday!

September 10 & 11 . . . to be announced

September 17 & 18 . . . We welcome Mark Mulligan to the stage at the Folklore Preserve for the first time!  Mark's music is a bit of a change for the AFP.  His voice and his music are a cross between Jimmy Buffet and James Taylor.  He has 5 CD's to his credit and a huge "parrothead" following through the Southwest.   On Saturday, September 17, we'll have a 2 pm matinee.  On Sunday, September 18, we'll have a special dinner show with a tropical theme for the evening.  Appetizers will be served 4:30-5:15, dinner 5:15 to 6:15, then Mark will begin his show . . . a full early evening, and you'll still be home early enough for the next work day.  Mark's music and personality are a lot of fun.  We're really anxious for Mark's visit to the Arizona Folklore Preserve.  To learn more about Mark, visit his lively website at markmulligan.net.

September 24 & 25, Mr. Dolan Ellis, Arizona's Official State Balladeer, returns to his stage with his wonderful music.  Dolan's also scheduled to be at the Preserve on October 22 & 23.  All other dates are yet to be announced.
