Arizona Folklore Preserve

Hello, everybody! We've had a busy June here at the Arizona Folklore Preserve with Dolan Ellis performing every weekend which was a real treat. Dolan had spent the month of May touring in Ireland, so it was wonderful to have him back!

This weekend, July 9 & 10, we are thrilled to once again have AWA 2004 Male Vocalist of the Year and Red Cliffs Recording Artist, Brenn Hill, on the stage at the AFP. Saturday's performance will be a dinner show, for which we are nearly sold out already. We have plenty of reservations still available for Brenn's Sunday afternoon performance at 2 pm, with our doors opening at 1 pm. As always, the cost for the afternoon show is $12.00 for adults, $6.00 for students 17 and under.

Brenn is such a talent. He's been nominated for numerous awards by the AWA (Academy of Western Artists) and the WMA (Western Music Association), and has won several.

1997 Awarded AWA Rising Star Award

1997 Nominated AWA Song of the Year

2001 Awarded AWA Album of the Year

2001 Awarded WMA Crescendo Award for Rising Star

2002 Nominated WMA Male Performer of the Year

2002 Nominated WMA Traditional Western Album of the Year

2002 Nominated AWA Entertainer of the Year

2002 Nominated AWA Male Vocalist of the Year

2003 Nominated AWA Male Vocalist of the Year

2004 Awarded AWA Male Vocalist of the Year

AWA announced its 2005 nominations a month ago and Brenn has again been nominated in three categories . . . Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Awards will be announced next week in Richardson, Texas. Quite an accomplishment for such a young performer.

Brenn is a special artist. He has written music for five beautifully produced CD's in his young career. He's a gentleman, a good family man, a lover of the outdoors and Western culture, and a patriot . . . all of which are reflected throughout his music . . . and he has a voice that stays with you for a long time.

This weekend at Brenn's performances, we'll also be showing a DVD which was produced by the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army and by the University of Arizona South. Brenn has donated his "Hill Family Song" entitled "We Will Go On" to this project which pays beautiful tribute in pictures and in song to our country and its incredible soldiers. We think you will be truly moved.

Don't miss this young talent. He's a wonderful representation of the new Western music generation.

Dolan Ellis, Arizona's Official State Balladeer, will return to his stage on July 16 & 17 with his program on "Summertime in Arizona". Take a little break from our heat and come spend an afternoon with us at the Arizona Folklore Preserve. For show reservations, call 520-378-6165. Hope to see you soon!

And, as always, we thank all of you for your support in sharing the music, the stories, the heritage, and enjoying our beautiful little spot in Ramsey Canyon.  We truly know what a treasure we have in the Arizona Folklore Preserve, in Dolan Ellis, Arizona’s Official State Balladeer,  and in all the very talented guest artists that appear on our stage.  Come see us at the Preserve, where you’ll always find a smile!
